☁️ Cloud sync — access from any device

Enter your JSONbin.io Master Key (X-MASTER-KEY) once. Staff, Twilio credentials and groups sync across all your devices automatically.

Go to jsonbin.io → profile → API Keys → copy the X-MASTER-KEY (the top key)
After connecting on your first device, copy the Bin ID shown below and paste it here on your phone/other device so they share the SAME data.

Get your free API key (2 min)

  1. Go to jsonbin.io and sign up free
  2. Click profile → API Keys → + Create Access Key
  3. Copy the key, paste above, leave Bin ID blank, click Connect
  4. Copy the Bin ID that appears, then on your other device paste the same Key AND that Bin ID, click Connect
  5. Done — both devices now read/write the same data!

📅 Live calendar sync — phone always up to date

Subscribe your phone's calendar to a live link. It updates itself automatically whenever staff birthdays change — you never re-import anything.

Connect Cloud sync above first

One-time setup (do this once)

  1. Download calendar.ics.js below and add it to the api/ folder in your GitHub repo, right next to send-sms.js
  2. Push to GitHub — Vercel redeploys automatically in ~30 seconds
  3. Come back here, connect Cloud sync (above) if you haven't, then click Generate my subscribe link

📱 SMS reminders — Twilio via Vercel

Credentials are saved to cloud — enter once, works on every device. SMS is sent via your Vercel function (no CORS issues).

Step 1 — Create free Twilio account

  1. Click Open Twilio signup
  2. Enter name, email, password → verify email
  3. Select SMS alerts & notifications
  4. Verify your US/Canada mobile

Step 2 — Get your free number

  1. In Console click "Get a free Twilio number"
  2. Country = US, check SMS → Buy (free)
  3. Copy your number e.g. +12025550123
💡 Free trial ~$15 = hundreds of reminders.

Step 3 — Find SID & Auth Token

  1. Go to Twilio Console
  2. Copy Account SID (starts AC)
  3. Click eye icon → copy Auth Token

Step 4 — Enter credentials

Step 5 — Save & test

Save your credentials, then send a test SMS. You'll receive a real text with a WhatsApp link — exactly what you'll get on birthdays.

🔔 How your reminders work

Keep this tab open (or open it each morning) — the app checks for birthdays automatically at 7:00 AM daily

Browser notification — tap the 🔔 bell in the top right once to enable. "Today is Sarah's birthday!" pops up at 7 AM. Android: works right in the browser. iPhone: Safari only supports this if the app is added to your Home Screen first — tap the Share icon → Add to Home Screen, then open it from there and enable the bell.

SMS to your phone — once Twilio is set up above, you get a text at 7 AM with a one-tap WhatsApp link. Message is pre-filled — just hit Send

Test it — go to Twilio Step 5 above and click Send test SMS to confirm everything is working
